Honoring Exceptional Architectural and Site Design
Fairfax County is accepting entries for the 2006 Exceptional Design Awards, which honor achievement in the total design of a building and site. The deadline is 5 p.m. on June 14.
Any project completed in Fairfax County since Jan. 1, 2000, is eligible. The awards will be given at the discretion of a jury as Honor Awards, Merit Awards and Honorable Mentions.
Awards may be considered for many projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, recreational, historical, adaptive reuse, mixed-use, energy efficiency and affordable housing. Winners will be notified by June 30; the awards will be presented on Sept. 25.
The jury will be composed of representatives from the American Institute of Architects, American Society of Landscape Architects, Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, American Planning Association and the Fairfax County Architectural Review Board, among others.
