Independence Day Holiday Schedule for Fairfax County
Listed below are schedules for Fairfax County government offices and services for the Independence Day holidays on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4. At the Board of Supervisors meeting on June 26, Chairman Gerald E. Connolly, jointly with Supervisor Penny Gross, made a motion that the Board direct the county executive to declare Monday, July 3, 2006, a holiday for Fairfax County employees, so that both July 3 and 4, 2006, will be part of the county's Independence Day observance. The motion was unanimously approved by all Board members present.
The revised schedule below reflects changes for July 3 and 4.
County Government – Closed July 3 and 4
Courts – Open July 3; Closed July 4
Public Schools and School Offices – Closed July 3 and 4
Libraries – Closed July 3 and 4
Fairfax Connector – Regular service July 3; Saturday schedule July 4 (www.fairfaxconnector.com)
FASTRAN – Not in service July 3 and 4
Park Authority RECenters – Regular opening time until close at 4 p.m. on July 4*
Community, Teen and Senior Centers – Closed July 3 and 4**
County Trash Collection – Regular schedule July 3 and 4***
Recycling and Disposal Facilities at I-66 and I-95 – Open July 3; Closed July 4
* RECenters open at different times. The George Washington RECenter in Alexandria will be closed. The Lee District RECenter will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For additional information, including lakefront parks, historic/nature sites and golf courses, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks.
** The Reston Community Center pool will be open July 3 and 4 from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the front desk will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more details, visit www.restoncommunitycenter.com. The McLean Community Center will host a celebration on July 4 at Langley High School (6520 Georgetown Pike, McLean) from 6 to 10 p.m., with fireworks at approximately 9:15 p.m. All scheduled McLean Community Center camps and classes will be open.
