Tonight’s weather forecast calls for three to five inches of rain, and in addition, there is a tropical storm that is moving into the area.
At this time, there is no order to evacuate the Belle View and New Alexandria area. A public safety unified command will be in place overnight at the Mount Vernon RECenter. Fairfax County also activated its Alternate Emergency Operations Center as of 4 p.m. today.
Residents who are concerned about their vehicles can park them at the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 2006 Belle View Road, until Saturday evening. Vehicles also may be parked at the Mount Vernon RECenter, located at 2017 Belle View Road. Residents are advised to store their valuables on the upper floors of their home, not in a basement.
