Visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/opa/bond to watch this programming online now.
Starting Oct. 1, Channel 16’s “County Magazine” will feature information about the $125 million public safety and $25 million parks bond referendums. “County Magazine” airs Sundays at 1:30 p.m.; Mondays at 7 p.m.; Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.; Fridays at 3:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 3:30 p.m.
On the general election ballot, Fairfax County voters will be asked to vote “yes” or “no” on two bond questions.
The public safety facilities bond referendum totals $125 million. If approved, Fairfax County could borrow money for the renovation, capital renewal, construction and expansion of public safety, civil and criminal justice facilities. These bonds would finance the expansion of three police stations, West Ox Animal Shelter and Fire and Rescue Training Academy.
The parks and park facilities bond referendum totals $25 million. If approved, Fairfax County could borrow money to acquire land, convert up to 12 athletic fields to synthetic turf, and improve trail and stream crossings.
Channel 16 is available in Fairfax County on the Cox Communications and Verizon cable systems and in Reston on the Comcast Cable system. Fairfax County Government Channel 16 video-on-demand also is available on the Internet at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/cable/channel16/vod.htm.
