Braddock District seniors are invited to attend a workshop on Friday, Oct. 20, hosted by Supervisor Sharon Bulova, on how to apply for real estate tax relief at Braddock Hall, 9002 Burke Lake Road, Burke. Desi Baltimore and Paula Louers from the Fairfax County Department of Tax Administration will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide individual assistance, on a walk-in basis, to eligible seniors who wish to apply for tax relief.

In order for staff to accurately determine eligibility and assist in the application process, workshop attendees are asked to bring all financial documents related to their income and assets as of Dec. 31, 2005, to include the following:

  • Tax return for 2005

For those who meet the age or disability qualification, the maximum asset eligibility requirement for the Real Estate Tax Relief Program for Seniors and People with Disabilities is $340,000 (not including the value of the house itself), while the maximum income limit is $72,000.
