Informational Brochure about 2006 Bond Referendums Available in Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese

An informational brochure about this year’s public safety and parks bond referendums is now available in Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese. The brochures are available on the county’s Web site at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/opa/bond.

On Tuesday, Nov. 7, Fairfax County voters will have the opportunity to vote “yes” or “no” on these two bond referendums.

The public safety facilities bond referendum totals $125 million. If approved, the money would be used for the renovation, improvement and expansion of public safety, civil and criminal justice facilities. These facilities include three police stations, the animal shelter on West Ox Road, Fire and Rescue Training Academy and the Great Falls Fire Station. These facilities are more than 20 years old, requiring renovation and expansion to meet current service requirements.

The park facilities bond referendum totals $25 million. If approved, these bonds would be used to finance the acquisition of new park land, convert up to 12 athletic fields to synthetic turf and improve trail and stream crossings.
