Fairfax County to Hold Annual Public Hearing on
Housing and Community Development Needs on Nov. 14
The Consolidated Community Funding Advisory Committee invites the community to attend Fairfax County’s annual public hearing on housing and community development needs on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. The hearing will be held at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, in conference rooms 9 and 10.
The purpose of the hearing is to receive comments on Fairfax County’s Consolidated Plan performance and housing and community development needs. Information from this public hearing will be used to prepare the Consolidated Plan One-Year Action Plan for fiscal year 2008, including funding priorities, and to educate the residents of Fairfax County concerning community needs. The Consolidated Plan is the document that identifies how Fairfax County intends to use funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Comments may include:
- Fairfax County’s Consolidated Plan performance
- Fair Housing needs
- Homelessness and other community services needs
The public is encouraged to provide information and input on:
- Necessary components to programs for self sufficiency among individuals and families
- Services required to help disabled persons to overcome barriers to independence
- Percentage of the Consolidated Community Funding Pool that should be set aside for new and innovative proposals for meeting human services needs

Each speaker will be allowed three minutes to address the committee unless they represent an official Fairfax County board, in which they will be allowed five minutes. This hearing is not for the purpose of obtaining specific requests for funding. Residents are asked to submit written comments prior to the hearing no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10.
