Braddock Tomorrow Series Runs Through Nov. 8

Three-Part Town Hall Series Sponsored by Braddock District Supervisor

Braddock Tomorrow, a three-part town hall meeting for Braddock District residents, begins at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Kings Park Library meeting room, 9000 Burke Lake Road, Burke. Members of the public are invited to attend. The next two meetings on Nov. 1 and 8 also will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Kings Park Library. Braddock District Supervisor Sharon Bulova is sponsoring this series.

Participants will learn about demographic trends and projections for the Washington metropolitan region in general and Fairfax County specifically. They will examine past growth decisions and patterns, and will consider both problems and successes that have resulted from these patterns. Series participants also will learn about new strategies and philosophies for shaping future growth. At the conclusion of the series, participants will be asked to adopt a “Community Vision Statement” for the future of Braddock District and Fairfax County.

Panelists for the three nights include Paul DesJardin and David Robertson from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments; Robert Puentes from the Brookings Institution; Dennis Carmichael from EDAW, a global landscape architecture firm; Jerry Gordon from the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority; former Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chair Jean Packard; and Tom Fleury from the Van Metre Companies.

Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerald E. Connolly will present “Setting the Stage” during the final meeting on Nov. 8.
