Holiday Schedule for Trash and Recycling
Collection in County-Served Sanitary Districts

The Fairfax County Division of Solid Waste Collection and Recycling has announced the trash and recycling collection schedule for the upcoming holidays. This collection schedule applies only to residents of established sanitary districts who receive trash and recycling collection services offered by the Division of Solid Waste Collection and Recycling. Residents with private collection services should contact their service providers to obtain any schedule changes during the holiday season.

During the week of Dec. 25, all recycling collections will be pushed back by one day. For instance, if your recycling is normally collected on Monday, it will be collected on Tuesday, Dec. 26. If your recycling is normally collected on Friday, it will be collected on Saturday, Dec. 30.

All trash collection will continue on a normal schedule, with the exception for those customers who normally have Monday collection. Monday’s collection will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 26, along with Tuesday’s normal collection routes. Please have your trash and recycling properly placed at the curb by 6 a.m. to ensure collection.

All trash and recycling collections will return to their normal schedule on Monday, Jan. 1, 2007.

The Fairfax County Division of Solid Waste Collection and Recycling supplies trash and recycling collection service to approximately 43,000 homes within established sanitary districts across the county. Property owners receiving county collection services pay for this service in addition to their property tax. They are billed annually as part of their property tax assessment.
