Burke Centre VRE Garage Construction Begins Phase II

Free Additional Parking Spaces and Shuttle to VRE Station at Burke Centre Library Site and St. Mary’s Church

Phase II of construction for a new 1,290-space garage at the Burke Centre Virginia Railway Express (VRE) station begins Monday, Feb. 5, and is expected to last approximately 14 months. During that time, 235 parking spaces will be temporarily displaced and Fairfax County and VRE are providing other alternatives.

Free satellite parking with 118 spaces is available at the site of the future Burke Centre Library on Freds Oak Road, north of the Fairfax County Parkway. Free shuttle bus service is provided directly between the Burke Centre Library site and Burke Centre VRE station.

On weekday mornings, the shuttle bus departs the library site at 5:49, 6:19, 6:46, 7:24 and 7:54 a.m., arriving at the station 10 minutes before each VRE train leaves. On weekday afternoons, the shuttle leaves the station five minutes after every VRE train arrives, taking commuters back to the Burke Centre Library parking site.

There also are 100 additional parking spaces for VRE commuters at Saint Mary’s Church, located at Zion Drive and Sideburn Road. On weekday mornings, the shuttle bus departs the church at 5:41, 6:14, 6:42, 7:16 and 7:46 a.m., arriving at the station 10 minutes before each VRE train leaves. On weekday afternoons, the shuttle leaves the station five minutes after every VRE train arrives, taking commuters back to the church.

EZ Bus will continue to operate its north and south routes to the Burke Centre station. These buses are free and subscriptions are no longer necessary. In the mornings, EZ Buses arrive at the station five to 10 minutes before VRE trains 324, 326, 328, 330 and 332 depart. In the afternoon, EZ Buses leave the station five minutes after VRE trains 325, 327, 329, 331, 333, 335 and 337 arrive.
