Connect With Arlington and Montgomery County
Traffic Updates Through the CEAN
Residents who are registered for Fairfax County’s Community Emergency Alert Network (CEAN) can now receive traffic advisories from Arlington County, Va. and Montgomery County, Md.
Users who subscribe to groups titled Arlington traffic or Montgomery traffic will receive alerts on severe traffic situations, such as a major shutdown or a disruption of traffic flow, from those jurisdictions. These new alerts are in addition to Fairfax County’s severe traffic, weather 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather 24/7, and government closings and delays.
The CEAN now also lets those registered to receive precise information by using an interactive map to pinpoint locations such as home, work, school, childcare location or other places of interest within Fairfax County for location-specific messages. In addition to pinpointing on a map, residents also have the option of entering street addresses, which will allow updates on severe traffic or emergencies within a set radius.
The Community Emergency Alert Network delivers important emergency alerts, notifications and updates during a major crisis or emergency for residents, as well as those who work in Fairfax County. Messages can be delivered to all registered devices, such as an e-mail account, cell phone, text pager, satellite phone or wireless PDA.
