Board of Supervisors Schedules Public Hearing
on Transit-Oriented Development for March 12
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a public hearing about a proposed amendment for transit-oriented development on Monday, March 12, at 5 p.m. in the Board Auditorium, Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax.
To be placed on the list of speakers for the public hearing, call 703-324-3151, TTY 711.
The Fairfax County Planning Commission held a public hearing about this proposed amendment on Feb. 8, deferring a decision until Feb. 28 in order to consider public testimony and comments.
In January, the Board of Supervisors authorized a public hearing and staff evaluation of a proposed policy with definitions and principles for transit-oriented development. The proposed Plan Amendment would be included in the county’s Comprehensive Plan, which guides development in Fairfax County.
This proposed amendment is a continuation of the work of the Planning Commission’s Transit-Oriented Development Committee, which recently completed seven months of public meetings. The public participated in the meetings by attending presentations and discussions, giving presentations, asking questions and providing comments. The consensus vision achieved through this process is available at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/planning/tod.htm.
Copies of the staff report on the proposed amendment may be obtained from the Department of Planning and Zoning, 7th Floor, Herrity Building, 12055 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, or by visiting www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpz/comprehensiveplan/planamendments.htm or www.fairfaxcounty.gov/planning/tod.htm. Questions regarding this proposed amendment may be directed to the Department of Planning and Zoning at 703-324-1210, TTY 711.
