Media Briefing on County Executive’s Proposed Fiscal Year 2008 County Budget

A budget media briefing by Fairfax County Executive Anthony H. Griffin will be held immediately following the morning session of the Board of Supervisors’ regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Feb. 26, at approximately noon. The news conference will be held in the Press Room (Room 158) of the Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax.

Griffin, along with Deputy County Executive Edward L. Long; Susan Datta, director of the Department of Management and Budget; and Kevin Greenlief, director of the Department of Tax Administration, will be available to answer questions about the proposed FY 2008 budget plan and 2007 real estate assessment notices.

The county executive’s complete budget presentation, along with news releases and other information on the proposed budget, will be available beginning on Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. on the county’s Web site at

Griffin will present his proposed budget for FY 2008 to the Board of Supervisors on Monday at approximately 10 a.m. during the regularly scheduled board meeting. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the Board Auditorium of the Fairfax County Government Center. The meeting will be shown live on Fairfax County Government Channel 16, which is also video streamed live at

Public hearings on the FY 2008 fiscal plan have been set for April 9, 10 and 11, at 7 p.m. with the School Board presentation to the Board of Supervisors scheduled on April 10 at 6 p.m. The board has scheduled the budget markup session for Monday, April 23, at 10 a.m. The formal adoption of the budget is scheduled to take place on Monday, April 30, at 10 a.m. during the regularly scheduled board meeting.
