Springfield District Senior Resource Fair March 21
Springfield District Supervisor Elaine McConnell will host a senior resource fair on Wednesday March 21, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the West Springfield Government Center at 6140 Rolling Road in Springfield.
The senior safety fair will begin with resource tables and displays at 1 p.m. followed by presentations at 2 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with county agency representatives on: tax relief for the elderly and people with disabilities; adult and aging services, SeniorNavigator; disability services planning and development; health department and adult day health care; Shepherd Center of Annandale-Springfield; Access Library Services; Seniors-on-the-Go!, Travel Training, FASTRAN, Metro Access; the Police Department and the Fire and Rescue Department’s senior program. AARP will also have a resource table at the fair.
The Police Department will present tips on personal and home safety and consumer fraud. The Department of Tax Administration will discuss tax relief and the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging will provide tips on thriving independently at home. Volunteer Fairfax will outline the various opportunities for volunteering.
