The Future of Merrifield
The “Future of Merrifield” will be the topic of the first Providence District Seminar Series of 2007 on Tuesday, April 24, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Luther Jackson Middle School, 3020 Gallows Road, Falls Church. Providence District Supervisor Linda Smyth is sponsoring the seminar series.
County staff and members of the citizen task force that drafted the update to the Merrifield comprehensive plan will be on hand to describe their roles in the planning process. Developers with approved and pending rezoning applications will be available to answer questions about the homes, restaurants, retail and amenities they hope to bring to the Merrifield area.
Residents are invited to learn how the planning process moves from paper to actual construction. A historical look at the planning process and how it set up the framework for the transformation will be discussed. Copies of the Merrifield plan are available at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpz/comprehensiveplan.
Other seminars in this series will focus on transportation and the planning and development of Tysons Corner. This is the third year for the seminars. More information on these seminars is available on the Providence District Seminar Series Web page at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/providence/projects/seminar.htm or by calling the Providence District Office at 703-560-6946, TTY 711. Reasonable ADA accommodations will be provided upon request.
