Fairfax County to Host Community Gathering
to Mourn Tragic Shootings at Virginia Tech
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and Faith Communities in Action will host a community gathering tomorrow, Wednesday, April 18, to allow members of the Fairfax County community to assemble, grieve and celebrate the lives of those killed in Monday’s tragic shootings at Virginia Tech. The gathering will be held in the forum of the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Among the speakers will be members of the county’s faith community, as well as Gerald E. Connolly, chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic events at Virginia Tech, and my prayers are with the families who lost their children and those that were injured,” said Connolly. “As we move forward, we will grieve as a community, and we will heal as a community. Ultimately, I believe that love and compassion are stronger than violence.”
For more information about the meeting or reasonable ADA accommodations, residents can contact the Community Interfaith Liaison office of the Fairfax County Department of Systems Management for Human Services at 703-324-3453, TTY 711.
