Exceptional Architectural and Site Design Entries Sought by June 13
Fairfax County is accepting entries for the 2007 Exceptional Design Awards, which honor achievement in the total design of a building and its site. The deadline is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13.
Any project completed in Fairfax County since Jan. 1, 2000, is eligible. The awards will be given at the discretion of a jury as Honor Awards, Merit Awards and Honorable Mentions. The awards recognize achievement in the total design of building and site, as well as creating an awareness of outstanding planning and design projects among the design professions and throughout the general public.
Awards may be considered for many categories, including residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, recreational, historical, adaptive reuse, mixed-use, energy efficiency and affordable housing. Judging will take place in the week following the entry date. Winners of awards will be notified by June 30. The awards will be presented in the fall.
The jury will be composed of representatives from the American Institute of Architects, American Society of Landscape Architects, Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, Fairfax County History Commission, American Planning Association and the Fairfax County Architectural Review Board, among others.
