Fairfax County to Host Business Preparedness Summit on July 20
Fairfax County will host a Business Preparedness Summit on Friday, July 20, for small and large business owners and operators in Fairfax County. The summit will be held at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax. On-site check in begins at 8 a.m., with the opening session starting at 8:30 a.m. The summit will end at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Space is limited, and those interested in attending the summit are encouraged to register online at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/emergency/bizprep.htm.
Gerald E. Connolly, chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and Erin Streeter, acting director of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Ready Campaign, will keynote the opening session. Bill Lecos, executive director of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, will offer a welcome on behalf of the business community.
A series of workshops will highlight the morning, followed by closing remarks. Workshops will cover business preparedness and continuity of operations planning; risk communications and emergency messaging; and a tour of Fairfax County’s alternate emergency operations center with a presentation on the National Incident Management System.
Business representatives are encouraged to attend to learn how to better prepare their business for an emergency, as well as to learn how Fairfax County will operate during an emergency.
