Fairfax County Receives Award for Incident Management Software Users Group
The Fairfax County Office of Emergency Management’s Northern Virginia (NOVA) WebEOC users group was the inaugural recipient of the Catalyst Award from Emergency Services Integrators (ESI), Inc.’s WebEOC User Advisory Board. WebEOC is a Web-based incident management software system used by emergency managers and other county agencies to better manage significant events.
In late 2005, Fairfax County took the lead in the Northern Virginia region by becoming the recipient of more than $1.2 million in federal grant funds to create a Northern Virginia WebEOC program.
The award, which is given for outstanding regional WebEOC integration, sharing of data and user group formation, was presented last month at the 2007 User Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
The NOVA WebEOC Users Group, consisting of 10 Northern Virginia jurisdictions of which Fairfax County is the nexus, was judged to meet the high standards of the award by having a grouping of three or more WebEOCs share data using dual commit/remote board functionality and an active user group.
