“Fairfax Stories” was published by the county’s Virginia 2007 Community Citizen Planning Committee. The group initiated this project to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in the Americas.
Last year, county residents were invited to submit original essays, stories and photos for consideration by a judging panel, which consisted of members of the committee, county historians, educators and librarians. The anthology features more than 30 essays, covering 400 years of history from 1607 to 2007.
