Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to Recognize Residents and Staff

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, at its meeting on Monday, Dec. 3, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., will recognize residents and staff. For more information, call 703-324-3187, TTY 711.
Mary Jo Tandy
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Mary Jo Tandy for her 19
years of service on the Consumer Protection Commission. She has helped
protect residents from illegal, fraudulent or deceptive consumer
practices in the marketplace.
Bob Gray
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Bob Gray for his years of
service in the Springfield community. Gray is a long-time resident of Lee
District and has been a leader in the Springfield business,
revitalization and civic communities since moving there more than 35
years ago.
Greater McLean Republican Women’s Club
The Board of Supervisors will recognize the Greater McLean
Republican Women’s Club for its sponsorship of programs for older adults
at the Lewinsville Senior Center. Since 1987 the club has been sponsoring
programs for many holiday occasions. A number of the club members have
been associated with this outreach for the entire 20-year period –
baking, singing, decorating and consistently enriching the lives of the
center’s participants.
Michael Cash
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Michael Cash for more than
23 years of service to Fairfax County ensuring that residents may fully
enjoy all opportunities available to them in an environment free of
discrimination. Cash, executive director of the Office of Human Rights,
has announced his retirement.
PR Professional of the Year in a Nonprofit/Association
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Merni Fitzgerald for her
significant efforts on behalf of the residents of Fairfax County and for
being named the PR Professional of the Year in a Nonprofit/Association by
PR News magazine. This nationwide award recognizes innovation and
leadership in public relations.
Most Influential Female CIO in the Nation
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Wanda Gibson for being named
by Government Technology magazine as one of the most influential female
CIOs in the nation involved in government. Government Technology is the
premier government information technology magazine for federal, state and
local government in the country.
“Fairfax County Stories 1607-2007”
The Board of Supervisors will recognize the Virginia 20007 Committee
and authors of “Fairfax County Stories 1607-2007” for contributing to the
publication and success of the book.
