New Year’s Holiday Schedules for Fairfax County

Listed below are schedules for Fairfax County Government offices and services for the New Year’s holiday, Jan. 1. Unless otherwise noted, regular schedules are in effect.

County Government – Closed Jan. 1

Courts – Closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1

Public Schools and School Offices – Closed Jan. 1

Libraries – Closing at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31; closed Jan. 1

Fairfax Connector – Regular service on Dec. 31; Sunday service on Jan. 1; VRE EZ Bus not in service Jan. 1.

FASTRAN – Not in service on Jan. 1

Park Authority RECenters – Closing at 4 p.m. on Dec. 31; open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Jan. 1; George Washington RECenter will be closed both days.*

Community, Teen and Senior Centers – Closing at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31; Closed Jan. 1 **See schedule below for Reston Community Center.

County Trash Collection – Regular Schedule***

Recycling and Disposal Facilities at I-66 and I-95 – Closing at 2 p.m. on Dec. 31;
closed Jan. 1

* Dec. 31 all nature centers will be open from noon to 5 p.m.; historic sites will be open from 11 a.m. to 4. p.m.; Frying Pan Park will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Country Store and Visitors Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Green Springs Garden will be open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the historic site will be closed on Jan. 1. The nature centers, historic sites, Frying Pan Park and Green Spring Gardens will be closed on Jan. 1.

** Reston Community Center: Hunters Woods will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lake Anne will be closed.

*** For more information about county trash and recycling collection for the holidays, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpwes/trash/coll_holiday.htm. Call private contractors about their schedules.
