Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Schedules for Fairfax County
Listed below are schedules for Fairfax County government offices and services for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, Jan. 21.
County Government – Closed
Courts – Closed. Courts also will be closed Friday, Jan. 18, in observance of Lee-Jackson Day.
Public Schools and School Offices – Closed
Libraries – Closed
Fairfax Connector – Regular schedule, but no service on Routes 595/597
FASTRAN – Not in service
Park Authority – Nature centers and historic sites will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Frying Pan Farm Park will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and its visitor center will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (store will be closed); Green Spring Gardens will be open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (historic house will be closed); RECenters will be open.
Community, Teen and Senior Centers – Closed*
County Trash and Recycling Collection – Regular schedule; please have trash and recyclables properly set out by 6 a.m. to ensure collection. **
Recycling and Disposal Facilities at I-66 and I-95 – Open
* McLean Community Center will host Martin Luther King Jr. Day activities on Sunday, Jan. 20, from 3 to 5 p.m.; closed on Jan. 21. Reston Community Center Hunter Woods will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Lake Anne will be closed.
**Residents receiving trash and recyclables collection service from private collection companies should contact their service provider directly to learn of any schedule adjustments due to the holiday.
