Jan. 28 Board of Supervisors Meeting Features 6 Presentations

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, at its meeting on Monday, Jan. 28, scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., will recognize residents and staff. For more information, call 703-324-3187, TTY 711.

Roger Lowen
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Roger Lowen for 20 years of service to the Reston community. Lowen has served on the boards of Reston Interfaith, Reston Citizens Association and the Reston Community Center Board of Governors.

African American History Month
The Board of Supervisors will designate February 2008 as African American History Month in Fairfax County to celebrate the history, contributions, concerns and achievements of African Americans.

2007 Bond Referendum Committee
The Board of Supervisors will recognize the 2007 Bond Referendum Citizen Committee for its work in providing county residents with information about county bonds and conducting presentations as requested by civic organizations and other interested groups. Members of the committee include Janyce Hedetniemi, chair; Emerson Cale, Christopher Cole, Fran Fisher, Carol Ann Hawn, John Jennison, Nicole Mogul, Neal McBride, Alfred Thieme Jr. and Stephen Wright.

City of Fairfax Regional Library
The Board of Supervisors will recognize the City of Fairfax Regional Library upon the grand opening of its new building.

Bruce Wright
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Bruce Wright for his years of service to the Fairfax County Trails and Sidewalks Committee. An experienced cyclist and long-time advocate of the county's trail and sidewalk network, Wright's contributions to not only the Hunter Mill District but also to the county are considerable.

Hilltop Sand and Gravel Company Inc.
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Hilltop Sand and Gravel Company Inc. for their support and contributions to recreation centers in the Lee and Mount Vernon Districts of Fairfax County.
