Climate Change Teach-in Events to be Held Jan. 30 – Feb. 1
For three days, Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) will host a range of events and forums to explore human-caused climate change and what it means for society. The NOVA Climate Change Symposium will take place Jan. 30 through Feb.1 on NOVA campuses.
Faculty from NOVA and area universities, in addition to representatives from government, media and other organizations, will be on hand at the varied activities to answer questions about climate change. The events are part of “Focus the Nation,” a national teach-in on global warming solutions.
Events, which are free and open to the public, include:

Wednesday, Jan. 30, 7:30 p.m., Annandale campus — “The 2%
Solution” Web cast with Stanford University climate scientist
Stephen Schneider, sustainability expert Hunter Lovins, green jobs
pioneer Van Jones and youth climate leaders, in a discussion of global
warming solutions.

Thursday, Jan. 31, noon-1 p.m., Medical Education campus — a forum on
“Human Health Implications of Climate Change.”
- Friday, Feb. 1, noon-3 p.m., Annandale campus (campus parking restrictions will be waived from 11 a.m.–4 p.m.) — Climate Change Symposium with experts from a variety of perspectives on climate change. This will be followed by a roundtable discussion emphasizing audience questions.
