Fairfax County History Commission to Hold Community Meetings

The Fairfax County History Commission in conjunction with the Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning will hold three community meetings on the proposed countywide Heritage Resources Comprehensive Plan Amendment. The meetings, which will follow the same agenda, will take place:

  • Tuesday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m. at Stone Mansion, 3900 Stoneybrooke Drive, Alexandria.
  • Wednesday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Frying Pan Park Visitor Center, 2739 West Ox Road, Herndon.
  • Saturday, March 29, at 10 a.m. at Green Spring Gardens Park, 4603 Green Spring Road, Alexandria.

At these meetings, representatives from the History Commission and the Department of Planning and Zoning will provide information, answer questions and solicit public comment on the proposed plan amendment. A major component of the proposed amendment is an update to the Fairfax County Inventory of Historic Sites figures in the Comprehensive Plan. These figures were last revised in 1994.

The doors will open half an hour before each meeting. Display maps with photographs will be on exhibit.

For more information on the proposed plan amendment, contact the Department of Planning and Zoning at 703-324-1380, TTY 711. For more information on the Inventory of Historic Sites, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpz/historic/ihs/.
