2008-2009 North County Area Plans Review Guide Now Available
Fairfax County has initiated a review of the Comprehensive Plan relating to the northern half of the county and has published the 2008-2009 North County Area Plans Review Guide. This guide provides information on the Area Plans Review process and opportunities for public participation. The guide can be printed from the Department of Planning and Zoning (DPZ) Web page at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpz/apr. Printed copies also will be available at the Planning Division of the Department of Planning and Zoning; the Planning Commission; and the Dranesville, Hunter Mill, Providence and Sully District offices.
The 2008-2009 North County Area Plans Review process will focus on Fairfax County’s Dranesville, Hunter Mill, Providence and Sully districts. Proposals for changes, called nominations, to the Area Plan volumes of the Comprehensive Plan may be submitted to the Planning Commission office between May 1 and June 27 using the form included in the guide and on the DPZ Web page. Nomination forms from the Web must be downloaded, printed and mailed. Electronic submissions will not be accepted because paper attachments, such as certified mail receipts, are required.
The Comprehensive Plan is the guide used by the community, the Planning
Commission and the Board of Supervisors to make decisions about the
county’s built and natural environments. This five-volume document
consists of the Policy Plan and four Area Plans. The Comprehensive Plan
is found at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpz/comprehensiveplan
and at Fairfax County public
libraries.
For more information on the submission instructions provided in the
guide, contact the Planning Commission at 703-324-2865, TTY 711. For more
