Workshop for Older Adults to Be
Held April 24 in Providence District
The Providence District supervisor, in conjunction with the Department of Family Services' Fairfax Area Agency on Aging and the Oakton Library, will be sponsoring a 50+ workshop event on Thursday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Oakton Library, 10304 Lynnhaven Place, Oakton.
A large portion of county residents are either age 50 or older or are responsible for providing care, advice or assistance to their parents or other older relatives. This workshop will provide an opportunity for those interested in issues associated with the increasing 50+ population to learn more about county services.
The event will begin with opening remarks and a welcome from Providence District Supervisor Linda Q. Smyth followed by two workshops and a variety of exhibits.
-
The first workshop at 10:30 a.m. will focus on scams, with
presenters from the Fairfax County Police Department and the Department
of Cable Communications and Consumer Protection.
- The second workshop begins at 11:30 a.m. and will focus on services available within the county, with presenters from the Area Agency on Aging and the Library.
There will be exhibits with staff members from a wide variety of county agencies available to answer questions before the workshops begin, during a mid-point break and at the conclusion of the final workshop.
For additional details about the workshop and ADA accommodations, call the Providence District Office at 703-560-6946, TTY 711.
