BRAC Area Plans Review Existing Conditions Report Now Available
The
Department of Planning and Zoning has published an existing conditions
report for study areas in the southeastern portion of Fairfax County
expected to be impacted by the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)
actions affecting Fort Belvoir. A limited number of printed copies also
will be available at the department’s Planning Division, 12055 Government
Center Parkway, Suite 730, Fairfax.
As part of the BRAC Area Plans Review (APR) process, the existing conditions report provides a basis for analysis on whether or not changes to the Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan are warranted given the relocation of approximately 19,000 jobs to Fort Belvoir. The report includes an examination of existing, zoned and planned development in areas surrounding Fort Belvoir and the engineering proving ground, and an overview of the status of public facilities, environmental and heritage resources, and transportation systems in the area.
For more information on the BRAC APR process, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpz/apr/brac, contact the Planning Division at 703-324-1380, TTY 711, or visit the office weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For general information about BRAC, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/brac.
