The Fairfax County’s Department of Planning and Zoning (DPZ) has initiated a planning study for a portion of the Baileys Crossroads Community Business Center (CBC). This study will result in recommendations for changes to the Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan and strategies for implementing these changes.
DPZ, along with a consultant, will coordinate the planning study. The study specifically looks at the area to the south and east of the interchange of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Columbia Pike (Route 244) in the CBC area, and will focus on evaluating and refining the concepts and strategies developed by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Advisory Services Panel for this area in 2006. The study is anticipated to be completed in October 2008.
As public participation is an important part of the study, a Citizens Advisory Committee has been appointed by Mason District Supervisor Penelope A. Gross to coordinate community outreach activities. Public meetings will be held at a later date to encourage community participation in the outcome of the study.
Frequently updated information about the study, such as maps, reports, analysis and up-coming public meetings, is available at online. Subscribing to theBaileys Crossroads Planning Study e-announcements via this Web page also provides a way to stay informed of the latest updates.
