News Highlights Schedules for Fairfax County Government offices and services for the Christmas holiday, Dec. 24-25, and the New Year’s holiday, Dec. 31-Jan. 1, are available at online.

County Government –

• Dec. 24-25 – Closed
• Dec. 31-Jan.1 – Closed

Courts –

• Dec. 23 - Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court and General District Court closed at noon.
• Dec. 24-25 – Closed
• Dec. 31-Jan.1 – Closed

Public Schools and School Offices –

• Dec. 23 – Two-hour early closing
• Dec. 24-Jan. 3 – No school for students and teachers
• Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31-Jan.1 – Twelve-month personnel off

Libraries –

• Dec. 24-25 – Closed
• Dec. 31-Jan.1 – Closed

Fairfax Connector –

• Dec. 25 – Will operate Sunday service on routes: 101, 151, 152, 161, 162, 171, 310, 321, 322, 401, 402, 505, 574, 605, 950 and RIBS 1, 2, 3 and 4.  No other routes will operate.
• Jan. 1 – Will operate Sunday service on routes: 101, 151, 152, 161, 162, 171, 310, 321, 322, 401, 402, 505, 574, 605, 950 and RIBS 1, 2, 3 and 4.  No other routes will operate.

Fastran –

• Dec. 24-25 – Not in service
• Dec. 31-Jan.1 –  Not in service

Park Authority –

• Dec. 24 – Fairfax County Park Authority RECenters close at noon, except for George Washington RECenter, which is closed. Resource Management Division (RMD) sites such as nature centers, historic sites, Frying Pan Farm Park and Green Spring Gardens will be closed.
• Dec. 25 – All Park Authority RECenters and RMD sites closed.
• Dec. 26 – RECenters will operate on their regular schedules. Nature centers open from noon to 5 p.m.; historic sites from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Frying Pan Farm Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (visitor center open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.); Green Spring Gardens from noon to 4:30 p.m. (historic house closed).
• Dec. 31 – RECenters close at 4 p.m., except for George Washington RECenter, which will be closed. Nature centers open from noon to 5 p.m.; historic sites from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Frying Pan Farm Park open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (visitor center open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Green Spring Gardens open from noon to 4:30 p.m. (historic house closed).
• Jan. 1 – RECenters open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for George Washington RECenter, which will be closed. All RMD sites will be closed.

Teen and Senior Centers –

• Dec. 24-25 – Closed

Community Centers – Most closed Dec. 26 and Jan. 2

McLean Community Center

• Dec. 26 – Open
• Jan. 2 – Open
  

Reston Community Center Hunters Woods –

• Dec. 24 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Dec. 26 – Open
• Dec. 31 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Jan. 1 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Jan. 2 – Open
  

Reston Community Center Lake Anne–

• Dec. 26 – Open
• Jan. 2 – Open

County Trash and Recycling Collection – County residents receiving county collection service for trash and recyclables on Fridays will not receive service on Friday, Dec. 25. Their trash and recyclables will be collected on Saturday, Dec. 26. To ensure collection, residents should have their trash and recyclables to the curb by 6 a.m. on the designated collection day.

Recycling and Disposal Facilities at I-66 Transfer Station and I-95 Landfill Complex–

• Dec. 24 – Close at 1 p.m.
• Dec. 25 – Closed
• Dec. 31 – Close at 2 p.m.
• Jan. 1 – Closed
