Two County Cemetery Registries Available Online

Dec. 4, 2009
OPA 226/09

News Highlights

  • The Fairfax County Library and Fairfax County Cemetery Preservation Association cemetery registries include church, commercial, community, family, military and slave cemeteries.

Two online county cemetery registries are available to residents and the public for research and educational purposes. The registry on the Fairfax County Library’s Web site lists all of the cemeteries in Fairfax County by cemetery type, and then by cemetery number, name and city. Each cemetery listed links to a brief summary of the cemetery’s history or current condition, as well as its location.

The nonprofit organization Fairfax County Cemetery Preservation Association (FCCPA) also has a county cemetery registry with additional information and photos.  FCCPA protects and preserves the family cemeteries of Fairfax County. FCCPA volunteers identify and document vandalism, neglect, or the threat of encroachment on cemeteries and preserve, protect, maintain and advocate for county cemeteries.
