  • Jan. 19 – Closed

  • Jan. 19 – Closed

Fairfax Connector

  • Jan. 19 – Weekday Service on all Connector routes except 595 and 597 which will not operate. *
  • Jan. 20 – Enhanced Saturday service with additional trips and routes. Visit the Connector online or call 703-339-7200.

Fastran

  • Jan. 19 – No Service
  • Jan. 20 – No Service

Park Authority

  • Jan. 19 – RECenters will operate on regular schedules, as will Frying Pan Farm Park; nature centers will open from noon to 5 p.m.; historic sites will open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Green Spring Gardens will open from noon to 4:30 p.m., the historic house will be closed.
  • Jan. 20 – RECenters will operate on regular schedules, as will Frying Pan Farm Park; nature centers will be closed; all other Resource Management Division sites such as historic sites and Green Spring Gardens will be open.

Community, Teen and Senior Centers –**

  • Jan. 19 – Closed
  • Jan. 20 – Closed

County Trash and Recycling Collection(Updated Jan. 14, 2009) ***

The trash and recycling collection schedule for Fairfax County residents receiving refuse and recycling collection from the county will be adjusted to accommodate the increased traffic congestion and bridge closures anticipated for the week of Jan. 20. 

  • If you receive Tuesday service, you will receive trash and recycling collection service on Wednesday, Jan. 21 instead of Tuesday, Jan. 20. 
  • If you receive Wednesday service, you will receive trash collection on Wednesday, Jan. 21 and recycling on Thursday, Jan. 22. 
  • If you receive Thursday service, you will receive trash collection on Thursday, Jan. 22 and recycling on Friday, Jan. 23. 
  • If you receive Friday service, you will receive trash collection on Friday, Jan. 23 and recycling on Saturday, Jan. 24.

There will be no adjustment to the normal collection schedule on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, Jan. 19. 

Questions related to trash and recycling collection from Fairfax County may be directed to the Customer Service Center at 703-802-3322, TTY 711, Monday thru Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; however, administrative offices will be closed on Jan. 19 and 20. 

Recycling and Disposal Facilities at I-66 Transfer Station and I-95 Landfill Complex

  • Jan. 19 – Open
  • Jan. 20 – Open

* Riders can take Fairfax Connector buses to West Falls Church Metro Station to continue by Metrorail.

** The McLean Community Center is closed Jan. 19 and 20. Reston Community Center Hunter Woods will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Jan. 19 and 20. The Lake Anne Center is closed.

 *** Residents receiving trash and recyclables collection service from private collection companies should contact their service provider directly to learn of any schedule adjustments for the holiday.
