The first Northern Virginia Black Church Faith Summit for the Prevention of HIV/AIDS is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Vienna, 450 Orchard Street, Vienna. Adults and teens are invited to attend. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided and registration for this free event is encouraged by Tuesday, March 3.
The event will feature workshops, panel discussions and speakers on HIV/AIDS prevention. The Rev. Walter Fauntroy – pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., former member of the United States Congress and a civil rights leader – will deliver the keynote speech and local church choirs, soloists and musicians will provide gospel music throughout the day.
The summit is presented by the Northern Virginia Clergy Council for the Prevention of HIV/AIDS. Support for the event is provided by Fairfax County’s HIV/AIDS Prevention Steering Committee, Health Department and Community Interfaith Liaison Office; JUNIPER Program; Inova Hospital Congregational Health Partnerships; North Virginia AIDS Ministry; and Whitman Walker Clinic.
