Hunter Mill District Community Day July 22
July 20, 2009
The Hunter Mill District Supervisor’s Office will host a community day on Wednesday, July 22, beginning at 1 p.m. at South Lakes Drive Park, 11851 South Lakes Drive, Reston. The free event is open to the public.
From 1 to 4 p.m., residents can enjoy fun and games, including wacky relays, while Fairfax County police cruisers and vehicles are on display. A family cookout begins at 4:30 p.m. with food provided by Red, Hot and Blue.
The day concludes with the third annual community softball game between the WPGC-FM 95.5 Naturals and the Road Dawgs from the Reston District Police Station. The game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Many on-air personalities will be playing in the game, and prizes will be awarded to fans.
“This community event encourages youths, families and police officers to come together for a day and collaborate with one another,” said Hunter Mill District Supervisor Catherine Hudgins. “This helps build relationships with each other that are based on respect and communication while discouraging violence in a friendly environment.”
The activities and games will be provided by the Southgate Community Center and officers from the Police Department’s Reston District Station.
