The Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning (DPZ) and the Laurel Hill Project Advisory Committee will hold a meeting concerning the Master Planning effort for a portion of the former D.C. Department of Corrections' prison in Lorton, now known as the Laurel Hill Adaptive Reuse Area.
The meeting is Monday, April 27, at 7 p.m., at the Laurel Hill Community Association Clubhouse, 8380 Laurel Crest Drive, Lorton. During this meeting, the county’s master planning consultant, the Alexander Company, will present the revised Master Plan for the Laurel Hill Adaptive Reuse Area and review financial information.
Fairfax County envisions a world-class development of residential, retail and commercial space within the former reformatory and penitentiary complex. This development will serve the expanding south county region and create a unique destination in harmony with the surrounding uses, including single-family residential, older-adult living residential, schools, the Lorton Arts Foundation Workhouse Arts Center and parks.
