Residents may submit nominations. An internal selection committee will review the nominations and select the award recipient. The award will be presented on Dec. 7 at the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors meeting.
The award is named for the late Lawrence V. Fowler, a volunteer who served 41 years on the Fairfax County Consumer Protection Commission (CPC). He was instrumental in many of the commission’s initiatives, including drafting ordinances, position papers and reports for the protection of consumers and developing the CPC Web page. In 1990, he received the Distinguished Public Service Leadership Award for Dedicated Service to the Citizens of Fairfax County.
Last year’s award went to Gilbert S. McCutcheon, a longtime Mount Vernon District representative to the Fairfax County Park Authority Board.
