The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, at its meeting on Monday, March 9, scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., will make the following presentations to residents and county staff. Fairfax Cares
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Fairfax Cares for creating a coalition of community partners – including schools, businesses, nonprofits, faith-based groups and local governments – to help residents of Fairfax County with basic immediate needs, such as food and shelter, during this time of economic hardship.
Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Month
The Board of Supervisors will designate March 2009 as Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Month in Fairfax County. Families, community-based organizations and advocates in Fairfax County are committed to supporting people with disabilities to achieve self-determined lifestyles. In recognition of the potential of people with developmental disabilities, the Board of Supervisors urges everyone to include these residents in all aspects of life in Fairfax County.
Walter “Skip” Munster Jr.
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Walter “Skip” Munster Jr. for more than 25 years of service to Fairfax County. He has held numerous senior management roles in Fairfax County Government and Public Schools, including planning and technology services and cable regulating and telecommunications. He has been influential in many innovations that integrated technology into classrooms and has worked on national technology telecommunications programs.
