New Circuit Court Judge Will Receive Official Commission

David S. Schell will be presented his official commission as a Fairfax Circuit Court judge on Friday, March 13, at 4 p.m. The investiture ceremony will take place in Courtroom 5J, Fairfax County Courthouse, 4110 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax. The public is invited to attend the hour-long ceremony, as well as a reception immediately afterwards.
At the ceremony, Delegate David Marsden will present Schell with his official commission, and Circuit Court Chief Judge Dennis J. Smith will ceremonially administer the oath to Schell, who took his oath of office on Sept. 4, 2008.
Before joining the Circuit Court, Schell served for 17 years as a judge of the Fairfax Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. Prior to that, he practiced law in Northern Virginia from 1979 to 1991. Schell received his law degree from the Washington College of Law, American University, in 1978.
