The Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning is hosting a four-session seminar focusing on the Reston area land use issues. The first session of the Reston Land Use College will be held on Tuesday, July 28, at 7 p.m. at the Reston Community Center Hunters Woods, 2310 Colts Neck Road, Reston. Three subsequent sessions will be held in September. To register, e-mail heidi.merkel@fairfaxcounty.gov or call 703-324-1380, TTY 711.
The Reston Land Use College is designed to help residents gain a better understanding of land use concepts relevant to Reston; how decisions are made regarding future development in the area; and how residents can be involved in the process of planning for future development. Through a combination of lectures and group activities, participants will learn:
- What the Reston Master Plan is, how it has guided Reston’s development and how it relates to land use planning and zoning in Fairfax County.
- How the Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance affect development.
- How to follow development proposals online and ways to provide input.
- More about a new planning study focusing on the future development of Reston.
