The Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning is hosting a four-session seminar focusing on the Reston area land use issues. The first session of the Reston Land Use College will be held on Tuesday, July 28, at 7 p.m. at the Reston Community Center Hunters Woods, 2310 Colts Neck Road, Reston. Three subsequent sessions will be held in September. To register, e-mail heidi.merkel@fairfaxcounty.gov or call 703-324-1380, TTY 711.

Through a combination of lectures and group activities, participants will learn:

  • What the Reston Master Plan is, how it has guided Reston’s development and how it relates to land use planning and zoning in Fairfax County.
  • How the Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance affect development.
  • How to follow development proposals online and ways to provide input.
  • More about a new planning study focusing on the future development of Reston.
