Reston founder Robert E. Simon will keynote “Aging in Reston: A Community Forum” on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods. Simon will discuss his original village concept as it connects to aging in place. The forum, presented by Hunter Mill District Supervisor Catherine Hudgins, is free. Advance registration is requested; forms are available at the Hunter Mill District Office, 12000 Bowman Towne Drive, Reston, or Reston Community Center.
The forum includes a panel on innovative aging programs from other locations and breakout sessions. Results of a community survey gauging the aging in place concerns of residents will be shared.
Hunter Mill District residents, along with the Reston Community Center, Reston Interfaith, Reston Association and Reston Citizens Association are working together to explore existing local and county resources for older adults in Reston and surrounding areas and how they can build an “Aging in Community” model.
For further information, contact the Hunter Mill District Office, 703-478-0283, TTY 711, or Reston Community Center (also for reasonable ADA accommodations) 703-476-4500, TTY 800-828-1120.
