The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors appointed Christopher A. Leonard as the director of the newly created Department of Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) today. He will assume his new position on July 19.

The transition to the new department is currently underway. Its mission is to engage, connect and collaborate with individuals, organizations, neighborhoods and communities to strategically plan, provide responsive services and build capacity to support community and neighborhood solutions.  The newly created regional service delivery model for teen, senior and community center services throughout the county is also being implemented within NCS.  The department consolidates the Department of Community and Recreation Services and the Department of Systems Management for Human Services.
