Chairman's Statement on Governor’s Promise to Undo Proposed Freeze of Local Composite Index

News Highlights   Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that he will support updating the Local Composite Index (LCI.) Announcement is great news for Fairfax County Schools, says Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova.

Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that he will support updating the Local Composite Index (LCI), the formula that determines state and local education funding responsibility in the upcoming budget.

"Governor McDonnell's announcement to undo the freeze on the LCI is great news for our schools,” said Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova. “Northern Virginia has been seriously affected by this severe economic downturn, making us eligible for a higher share of state funding. The proposed freeze has been an enormous fairness issue and I am very pleased that the governor has taken this position."
