Report Graffiti to Police Promptly
Sept. 20, 2010
OPA 143/10
News Highlights
|
Graffiti is a crime that should be reported promptly to the Fairfax County Police Department at 703-691-2131, TTY 711. An officer will be dispatched to the location to photograph and record the graffiti and incident.
Property owners are to remove or cover the graffiti within 15 days. Removing graffiti quickly can discourage continued activity so that it and similar markings do not become a permanent part of a community or neighborhood. Products specifically formulated to remove or paint over graffiti are available at many home improvement and paint stores, as well as online.
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors amended the Fairfax County Code in 2008 to enhance the county's ability to effectively respond to graffiti concerns.
