Join Chairman Bulova at Stuff the Bus Food Drive Feb. 19
Feb. 18, 2011
Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova will be attending the Fastran Stuff the Bus – Food for Fairfax drive on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m., at the Fair Lakes Center Bloom, 13065 Fair Lakes Center, Fairfax.
“There are many families, children and adults in our community who are faced with hunger every day,” said Bulova. “Through this program we have seen our community come together to help. So far we have collected more than 15,400 lbs of food to benefit local food pantries.”
During the past few years, Fairfax County has seen a dramatic increase in demand for food assistance and local food pantries are struggling to keep up with the demand.
“Each one of us has a role in helping those in our community who cannot afford to feed their families,” said Bulova. “By donating food or volunteering your time to help our local food pantries, you will make a big difference in the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors.”
There still are three more opportunities in Alexandria, Fairfax and Franconia to participate in the Fastran Stuff the Bus – Food for Fairfax drive. The program concludes Tuesday, Feb. 22.
