Fairfax County Receives National Recognition for Budget Documents
Oct. 3, 2011
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recently announced that Fairfax County is a recipient of the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. This is the 28th consecutive year that Fairfax County has received this recognition.
According to the GFOA, the awards "reflect the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.” Budget documents must be rated proficient and meet 14 criteria in four categories: policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device. The Fairfax County recognition is for work done on the FY 2012 budget.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit association serving nearly 17,400 government finance professionals in North America.
