Mackereth Named President of Virginia Association of Assessing Officers

Larry Mackereth, assistant director of the real estate division of the Fairfax County Department of Tax Administration (DTA), was recently named and sworn in as president of the Virginia Association of Assessing Officers (VAAO). He also has served as president-elect, vice president and secretary and on several VAAO committees.
Mackereth has worked for DTA for 18 years and previously worked for the state of Maryland for 10 years. He holds the appraisal designation of certified assessment evaluator from the International Association of Assessing Officers, as well as a certified general appraisal license from the commonwealth of Virginia. Mackereth is a graduate of Lynchburg College.
The Virginia Association of Assessing Officers is a professional organization of assessors and appraisers from state and local governments throughout the commonwealth. The organization’s mission is to improve assessment standards, disseminate information on assessment practices and provide continuing education to its members.
