Braddock District Supervisor John C. Cook will host a town hall meeting Monday, Jan. 9, about hiring a new county executive from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Kings Park Library, 9000 Burke Lake Road, Burke.
A national search will begin soon for the next Fairfax County Executive as Anthony Griffin will retire in April after 12 years in the position.
This town hall meeting will include two parts:
-
Panel discussion moderated by former Board of Supervisors member Stu
Mendelsohn with John Peterson of the Peterson Companies; Karen Conchar
of the Fairfax County General Employees Union; Ann Zuvekas, Braddock
District appointee to the Health Care Advisory Board; and Paul
Liberty.
- Open comments and questions for panel members, and other officials in attendance.
At the direction of the Board of Supervisors, the county executive leads the day-to-day operations of county government (view organizational chart). This leader prepares the budget, fosters partnerships with residents, business and community leaders, identifies strategic issues facing the county, and encourages cross-department and regional collaboration.
The Board of Supervisors, who will hire the next county executive in the coming months, also wants your input through an online survey by Jan. 16. Your ideas and thoughts will advise Board members about what qualities and experiences they should look for in candidates, as well as issues and challenges facing the eventual chosen candidate.
For questions about the town hall meeting, contact the Braddock District office at 703-425-9300, TTY 711, or braddock@fairfaxcounty.gov.
