September 12, 2012
On Thursday, Sept. 13, the Fairfax County Planning Commission will review the recommendations developed by its Tysons Corner Committee. The meeting begins at 8:15 p.m. in the Fairfax County Government Center Board Auditorium, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22035.
The recommendations (PDF) address the following areas:
- Funding for transportation infrastructure in Tysons, including new streets, highways, and transit services
- Monitoring to ensure the funding plan is implemented and adjusted in the future, as needed
- Interim commuter parking options to serve the four new Metrorail stations in Tysons
Based on public input, the committee developed its recommendations during 24 meetings held over 17 months.
After its review on the 13th, the Planning Commission will make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors, which is expected to provide an opportunity for public comment on these recommendations on Oct. 16. The commission will make recommendations on specific issues identified in the board's follow-on motions to the plan to transform Tysons.
