Absentee Voting Begins Sept. 20 for Nov. 5 General Election

In-person absentee voting for the Nov. 5 General Election is underway at the Fairfax County Government Center and at seven satellite locations (weekday hours begin Oct. 15) throughout the county. Saturday in-person absentee voting will be available through Nov. 2.

In addition, absentee ballots are being mailed from the Office of Elections (as of Sept. 20) to those whose applications have been received. The deadline to submit an application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. More information on mail-in absentee voting and deadlines.

In-Person Absentee Voting Hours and Locations:

Office of Elections, Suite 323, at Fairfax County Government Center:
Weekday Schedule
Sept. 20 to Oct. 12 (Office closed Oct. 14 for Columbus Day)

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Thursday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Extended Hours Oct. 15 to Nov. 2
Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday Schedule (Nov. 2 is last day to absentee vote in-person)
Sept. 28 to Nov. 2, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Seven Satellite Locations:
Weekday Schedule
Oct. 15 to Nov. 1 (Locations closed Oct. 14 for Columbus Day)

Monday – Friday: 3:30 to 7 p.m.
Saturday Schedule (Nov. 2 is last day to absentee vote in-person)
Sept. 28 to Nov. 2, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Nov. 5 General Election will include elections for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, the House of Delegates, Fairfax County sheriff, as well as a School Bond Referendum. The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 5 election is Oct. 15 at 5 p.m.  If you are not registered, or need to change your address, and you have a Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) customer identifier number (on your DMV identification card or driver’s license), you can register online.  To check your registration, use the county’s mobile app (click on Vote), visit the Virginia State Board of Elections, or call the Office of Elections at 703-222-0776 (TTY 711).
